Charlie’s Angels is all the buzz, again. The 1970s television-series-gone-film-franchise is due to hit theaters in November with an all-new cast and a fresh plot. But long before Kristen Stewart, Naomi Scott, and Ella Balinska became a renowned trio, Kate Jackson, Farrah Faucet, and Jaclyn Smith established the household name.

Today, former Charlie’s Angel Jaclyn Smith has her own line of clothes, home furnishings, and skincare. While many celebrities have used their status to establish product lines– Britney Spears perfume, Hillary Duff glasses, Rob Kardashian socks– this wasn’t always the norm.

Prior to Smith’s clothing line in 1985, celebrities often endorsed brands, rather than building one themselves. Smith led the way into a new form of celebrity success; her brand has been worn by over 100 million women according to The Today Show.

Smith mentions that a component of the iconic Charlie’s Angels was its fashion, which may have planted the seed that inspired Smith later on. The 73-year-old is now recognized by her fashion nearly as much as she is her role in the hit television series. The line has been a Kmart success for three decades and is still going strong.

Smith’s brand may also have contributed to her continued spot in the limelight and proceeding appearances in shows like Law & Order and CSI. And who could forget her cameo in the 2003 film Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle. We can only hope that Smith appears in the 2019 Charlie’s Angels reboot, or at least helps with the fashion designing.
