For those who wondered how Peter’s decision to put his wife in a pumpkin shell solved either of their problems, it’s worth noting that this isn’t the original version of the nursery rhyme. It was originally called “Eeper Weeper” or “Heeper Peeper” (it varies) and was about a chimney sweep who shoved a wife he didn’t love up the chimney. It may not make as much sense, but the pumpkin version’s a little nicer.
