While there are many billionaires in the world, only one individual can be the wealthiest person on earth. As of July 27, 2017, that person is Jeff Bezos. Although today he’s a Princeton-educated entrepreneur, and founder of Amazon, Bezos’ early beginnings made him an unlikely candidate to become the richest guy in the world.

His mom was just a teenager when she gave birth to him, and his father wasn’t a white-collar worker. Bezos’ first job was working at McDonald’s in high school, while also helping out his grandfather on his South Texas ranch. But quietly, Bezos’ potential began revealing itself.

He graduated valedictorian and was accepted into Princeton, where he maintained a 4.2 GPA. Upon graduation, he had Intel, Bell Labs, Andersen Consulting, and other major technology companies knocking on his door. By the age of 30, he was a senior vice-president of a hedge fund, and at 34-years-old, he founded Amazon in his garage and became a millionaire.

Now 54 years old, Bezos’ estimated net worth, as of December 2018, is between $123-160 billion. He’s also been named Time Person of the Year in 1999 and named one of America’s best leaders by U.S. News & World Report. Jeff Bezos’ life story is nothing short of incredible.
