Everyone looks forward to going on vacation. A change of scenery, disconnecting from devices, and taking a well-deserved break from work is part of maintaining a work-life balance that will keep you healthier and happier in the long run- not to mention more productive at work! Once you’ve clocked out and officially started your break, keeping a tight budget is the last thing you want to worry about. This is the time to relax, and counting pennies is just as bad as counting calories on your vacation. Take these simple tips to save some cash while you relax.

Never ride alone
Sharing rides is a simple thing to do while you’re on vacation. Often times you don’t have your own vehicle with you, and sharing a ride is a simple solution to bring down costs. Opt for the carpool Uber, the airport shuttle, or research public transportation ahead of time. Even if it’s not your normal routine, you may actually find that you prefer taking public transportation while on vacation, since you don’t have to worry about directions and get to enjoy the scenery.
Split the time between the nicer accommodations and the more basic
Of course, you want to stay in a nice place when you’re traveling, we all do. But do you really need to stay at a top resort every night of your trip? Consider booking a couple of nights at your preferred hotel or resort, and a few nights at a more affordable location. If you’re spending the majority of your time exploring the town for a couple days you won’t miss those high thread count sheets. Break it up between basic and luxury.
Bring Some Snacks
While you’re focused on making sure you packed everything you’ll need throughout the morning, night, and everything in between, there’s a money saving item you may be overlooking: snacks! Sure, you can’t pack a roasted chicken, but you can load up your bag with protein bars, nuts, cookies, and anything else you’ll want to snack on between meals. Vacations usually mean eating out a lot, but if you can curb your hunger with some snacks from home, you’ll likely cut back on your dining budget.
