The holiday season is quickly approaching. Thanksgiving and Christmas are the busiest weekends to travel in the United States. If you don’t take the time to plan properly your travel days can quickly spiral out of control. Thankfully, the travel website Expedia has a few tips to make sure your travels are headache-free.
This year, Thanksgiving falls on November 28th. If you’re looking for a cheap flight, Expedia recommends booking anytime from October 29th to November 13th. The cheapest rates can be found if you decide to travel on Thanksgiving Day itself. They also warn against booking a flight the day before Thanksgiving, as this is when the prices are crazy high.
When it comes to Christmas, Expedia says the best time to book is between November 23rd and December 9th. If you’re able and willing Christmas Eve is usually the cheapest day to fly. Try to avoid Saturday, December 21st. It’s usually one of the most expensive and the busiest, as it’s often the first day off for many people who book their holidays off work or for the kids who begin Christmas break.
Holiday travel season is always going to be a bit stressful, but hopefully utilizing these tips will help keep your wallets a bit more full this season. Or even better host the festivities yourself and get your family to come to you this holiday season.
