Princess Caroline’s Controversial First Marriage

Princess Caroline, daughter of Prince Ranier II and Princess Grace, has married three times throughout her life. Her parents disapproved of her first marriage, which seemed doomed to fail from the start. Neither parent attended the wedding, and the couple had to walk around the city instead of drive in a car.
The Princess married Parisian banker Phillipe Junot, who was 17 years older than her at the time. Reports leaked that the couple had heated arguments even during their honeymoon. They divorced in 1980, only two years after they married. They had no children.
